The Challenge

State-of-the-art automation technology for CO2 compressor plants

The goal of the project is to improve gas recovery through CO2 capture, utilization, and storage (Enhanced Gas Recovery / Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) to maximize gas production and reduce carbon emissions.

In this process, CO2 is separated from the natural gas stream, compressed to over 150 bar, and then injected into underground formations to enhance gas production and for long-term storage. The project combines economic efficiency with sustainable emissions reduction, thereby making an important contribution to the transformation of the energy industry.

Our Solution

High Degree of Automation Through PCS 7 Automation and CCUS Technology

For the compressor packages, SpiraTec supplies three identical control cabinets, each equipped with PCS 7 control software and designed for a single machine line. Each control cabinet includes redundant Siemens S7-400-H controllers as well as safety-related components and systems for vibration and load monitoring.

The solution is complemented by a central Load Sharing Master Control Cabinet, which ensures optimal load distribution within the plant. The use of redundant automation systems and comprehensive monitoring technologies guarantees high plant availability – a decisive factor in projects of this scale.

Manufacturing is carried out in close collaboration with onoff automation services gmbh.

All systems are thoroughly tested prior to delivery using a specially developed test board. This ensures that all components are optimally coordinated and meet the highest quality and safety standards.
