General planning across all project phases

This project marks a decisive step in our company’s development. We have demonstrated that we are capable of successfully delivering even the most complex projects across locations, departments, and companies.

The Challenge

Complex Large-Scale Project

For SpiraTec, this is one of the first projects of this scale in the role of general planner and a compelling demonstration of the company’s expertise in delivering complex large-scale projects.

The new chemical plant operates with green hydrogen. Safety and sustainability were at the heart of the project throughout. A sophisticated ventilation system, sprinkler and foam fire-extinguishing systems, and a firefighting water retention system in the basement ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and extensive fire protection requirements.

  • General planning across all project phases
  • 3D plant and piping design
  • HVAC
  • Building services engineering / instrumentation and control
  • Process control systems
  • Architecture and civil engineering
  • Sprinkler systems
  • Building IT (in cooperation with an external partner)
  • Construction and installation supervision
  • Support during commissioning and documentation
Our Solution

 Integrated project delivery

From the feasibility study through basic and detailed engineering to construction and installation supervision and commissioning, SpiraTec was responsible for the complete general planning scope.

Fully automated operation of the facility comprises more than 1,400 pipelines and follows a well-designed safety and sustainability concept:

  • Explosion relief panels for controlled pressure release
  • Sophisticated ventilation system
  • Sprinkler and foam fire-extinguishing systems
  • Firefighting water retention system in the basement
  • Compliance with all requirements

Particular attention was paid to energy optimization through an energy-efficient ventilation concept with separate supply and exhaust air systems for production and social areas, combined with high-performance heat recovery for maximum energy efficiency.

A key feature of the project was the consistent use of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Digital planning tools such as Aveva Diagrams & E3D, Autodesk® Revit, Navisworks, LICAD, Rohr2, and software solutions from Solar Computer GmbH enabled seamless integration of all disciplines.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration between Process, Piping, Civil, Automation, and E&I Engineering, SpiraTec was able to:

  • Reduce interfaces
  • Shorten project timelines
  • Increase planning reliability
  • Ensure high execution quality

The project was completed within budget and on schedule. All defined milestones were achieved.
