Integrating mobile robots – but how?

  • 18.06.2025

Mobile robotics is a key component of industrial automation, offering impressive benefits – particularly its high level of flexibility. The market for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) offers a wide range of solutions for different production environments. However, a well-thought-out strategy is required for successful integration into existing systems.

Often, existing production sites are not equipped for the use of mobile robots and present operators with various challenges. Additionally, control software capable of communicating with production facility systems, processing their data in real time, and making the information available to other systems is required. For mobile robots to perform activities autonomously in production environments, they must be connected to the existing IT infrastructure. This includes interfaces to ERP, MES, process control systems, and building automation systems, including doors and elevators.
